Wallet has two account settings that look similar but do completely different things: Archive account and Exclude from statistics. They are independent of each other, and mixing them up is the most common reason people see "missing" numbers in their reports. Here's exactly what each one does.
Exclude from statistics
When you turn on Exclude from statistics, the account stays fully active and visible in the app, but its balance and its transactions are left out of your Statistics, Reports, cash flow and overall balance.
Use it when you want to keep an account in Wallet but not let it influence your analysis — for example an investment or crypto account, a long-term savings account, or a shared/business account that would otherwise distort your personal spending. You can switch this setting on or off at any time, and the change is reversible.
Archive account
Archive account is meant for accounts you no longer use. Archiving removes the account from your main account list and from the selectors you see when adding a new record, so your app stays clean and uncluttered. The account and its history are not deleted — you can unarchive it whenever you like.
The part that causes confusion
Many people assume that Exclude from statistics is the only switch that controls whether an account's records are counted. In practice, archiving an account also changes how its history appears in Statistics and Reports.
If you want an account's past transactions to keep counting in your reports, the safest approach is:
- Keep the account active and use Exclude from statistics only for accounts you genuinely want to hide from reports.
- Make sure your app is up to date (see the note below).
How to see the records of an archived or excluded account
Your transactions are never lost — they're just hidden from the summary views. To view them:
- Go to Records → Filter and set Accounts = All accounts and Period = All time.
- Or temporarily unarchive the account to review its history, then archive it again.
